By IKOME CHRISTIE-NOELLA EPOSI It was during a senate meeting held at the Catholic University Institute of Buea (CUIB) campus, Thursday, August 20, 2020 where the President of the institution, Professor Victor Julius Ngoh, cleared all doubts as concerns the in-house squabbles which made waves all over social media in regard to the leadership of the institution. He told the press that so far so good, everything is under control. “As far as the Catholic University Institute of Buea is concerned, everything is in control and for that we thank God. We have the full support of the highest authorities of the Diocese of Buea and equally that of our mentor University, the University of Buea. So everything is intact and we are moving forward” he assured. The senate meeting was geared towards deliberating and adopting the second semester results. The new team spearheaded by Prof. Ngoh took over from the July 1, 2020 and successfully conducted the second semester exams. The president added that the senate had the full participation of the mentor University, University of Buea represented by its highest academic authority, the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of teaching. CUIB’s President, Prof. Julius Ngoh, talking to the press after Senate meeting at CUIB Campus in Buea Top on the agenda during the meeting was the reintroduction of the Higher National Diploma (HND) Programme and also the reintroduction of re-sit exams for the final year (Level 400) students. “We are not looking backward, that is why we have also decided to reintroduce the HND Programme and also more importantly have the reintroduction of the re-sit examinations and exceptionally for the final year 400 level students because we believe that it is unfair to have a final year student who has just one course to come next year and spend that entire year just to validate the single course” CUIB’s President explained. The SUN gathered that applications for admissions for the 2020/2021 academic year are ongoing at the institution. Another revelation made by the President was the fact the new team at CUIB has worked out a Memorandum of Understanding with the Express Exchange Company to facilitate the registration process and payment of fees through the CUIB. As per the admission requirements, the president added that applicants can obtain admission online, onsite or download forms from the website and post to the University Office of Admissions and Enrollment Management.
