Gabonese furious over suspension of church services

Christians in Gabon are expressing their dissatisfaction with a decision that halted Sunday services in the country to curb COVID-19 spread.

Seven months after places of worship and other gatherings were prohibited, restriction on some of the areas like bars, hotels and markers have been opened – but churches have remained closed.

Bishops in some parts of Libreville, Gabon took a unanimous decision to open the churches this Sunday, but met with security forces deployed to thwart the move.

Some angry Christian’s knelt on streets to pray, calling for the ban to be lifted.
