Kyé-Ossi Border Dispute: Wounded Cameroonian citizen under treatment at Yaoundé Military Hospital

An aggression of some Cameroonian citizens by Equatorial Guinean Armed Forces at the Cameroonian end of the Cameroon – Gabon – Equatorial Guinea boarder on Thursday morning, left at least one person nursing serious injuries from bullet wounds and in desperate need for medical attention.

These Cameroonians were reportedly cultivating a piece of land that has long been under dispute between Cameroonian and Guinean peasants.

On Thursday, as these four citizens had gone out to the plot, a group of armed Guinean forces interrupted and asked them to immediately vacate the plot and to not return. As they tried questioning the armed men, one of them was shot in the leg, and the three others arrested and taken away.

The injured man sought for help and was taken to the Kyé-Ossi Regional Hospital, where his condition was analysed and he then transferred to the Yaoundé Military Hospital where he is currently under treatment.

The three other civilians arrested by the Guinean forces were equally released following a timely intervention from Cameroonian authorities.
