14 suspects arrested in Douala after series of violent attacks

The fourteen suspects were exposed yesterday October 9 in Douala by the Divisional Officer for Wouri, Benjamin Mboutou.

The arrests were made by the forces of law and order after violent attacks by serial delinquents popularly referred to as “Microbes” in French.

This group of nuisance as the Senior Divisional Officer revealed, normally arm themselves with local weapons like knives and machetes.

They launched attacks on traders, customers and passerbys in Ndokoti on the evening of October 8, 2020.

These attacks sowed scenes of chaos and panic in Ndokoti which consequently led to the interventions of the forces of law and order. After the arrests had been made, the Senior Divisional Officer stated that “the criminals apprehended will face the full rigour of the law”.

He equally promised to take the necessary measures possible to send the delinquents to prison within the shortest possible time frame. He has equally sounded a warning to other delinquents within the city of Douala that he would make everything within his strength to make sure they endured a difficult time living in crime.

This is not the first time that these delinquents have sown terror into the population of Douala however. Cameroon-info reports that this same gang had carried out a similar attack in 2019 after the death of one of theirs.

They took turns in vandalizing property, harnessing citizens and ransacking people’s properties in New Bell. The attacks were so violent and organized that it took government authorities a considerable amount of time to return peace and order to the New Bell neighborhood.
