Martinez Zogo’s case: Canal 2 reporter, photojournalist molested, briefly detained at Military Court

A reporter of Canal 2 television by name Joël Djom was beaten alongside his cameraman and briefly detained at the Yaounde Military Court, as they covered the hearing of suspects arrested in connection with the murder of journalist Martinez Zogo in the evening of Thursday, February 23.

According to a witness, they were molested and detained by security officers while attempting to take some images at the Military Court premises.

“He was released over an hour later by the gendarmerie elements,” a journalist at Canal 2 said, adding that his colleague was severely beaten.

Arnold Ndal, photographer and correspondent for the Associated Press, was also arrested and his camera confiscated.

“After 1 hour of checking my rushes and questioning at the SED, I was released,” he wrote in a WhatsApp forum.

The situation adds to the psychosis that journalists are already experiencing since the heinous assassination of Martinez Zogo, channel manager of Amplitude FM and host of the famous program “Embouteillage”.

It should be recalled that Amougou Belinga, the main suspect in the assassination of Martinez Zogo and co. were transferred to the Military Court on Thursday evening, after which they were taken back to the State Secretariat of Defense.
