COURT VERDICT: 6 MONTHS IMPRISONMENT AND 3 MILLION FRS AS DAMAGE FOR VIOLENCE ON ESSOU MARINETTE
A verdict has been slammed on the culprits of the brutish treatment meted out to Essou Marinette, in June 2022, Buea Dieudonne’s main chick Neris Ayuk Etang and accomplices Enjei Doris, Kendra Assi, Sandra Sirri Ngomba, and Bih Bernice Assi have been sentenced to six months imprisonment and charged to pay 3.000.000 FRS to Essou Marinette for damage.
If they default on payment, they shall spend an additional 9 months in prison. Again, they have to pay the cost of proceedings which stands at 113,208 FRS (each). The verdict was delivered by Judge Vivian Mengele else Achiri at the Court of First Instance in Buea.
The accused were convicted on all the 19 charges levied against them to which they had pleaded guilty. The counts ranged from public indecency, theft, and defamation, to private indecency among others.
Barrister Ebi Stanley, the defense counsel has applauded the judgment calling it, a “landmark”. “It is a reasoned judgment, a compassionate judgment and I commend the judgment. It is a landmark judgment and I think it should be published in the official gazette”.
