From detention, Nnamdi Kanu orders suspension of weekly IPOB sit-at-home protest

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has ordered the suspension of the group’s weekly sit-at-home order in the South-East of Nigeria.

This was disclosed in a statement on Saturday by the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, in Awka,the Anambra State capital, according to Punch.

He said,”The suspension of the Sit-At-Home by the IPOB Head of Directorate was as a result of an order from the leader of this great movement, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.”

The IPOB leader who is currently facing trial of treason has been in detention under the facility of the Department of State Services (DSS), in Abuja, the Nigerian capital following his arrest in Kenya and brought back to the country.

The group under it’s security arm, Eastern Security Security (ESN) have allegedly been involved in series of killings, destruction of security facilities in the region.

However, calm is returning to the region due to the beefing up joint security operations from the security agencies in the country.
