Former South African President, Jacob Zuma now in jail

The former President of South Africa handed himself to the legal authorities of the countries few minutes before the expiry time that was given to him by the court.

The president had been handed a 15 months jail term from the South African justice system for contempt of the judicial system and for obstruction of justice.

The President was advised to hand himself in a civil manner, or risk the consequence of being shamefully dragged to court.

Despite Zuma’s initial denial to adhere to the court’s ruling by demanding for a cancellation of the sentence, he yesterday decided to follow the decision taken by the justice system and handed himself to the police to be jailed, some moments before the expiry time he was given to hand himself over.

The 79-year-old was forced to resign as president in 2018 amidst a growing number of corruption charges against his Government.

He was also accused to have used public resources for his personal gain, with the most glaring of them being the several millions of Dollars which he had used to renovate his Nkandla residence.
