Breakthrough As Gov’t, Separatists Embrace Peace Process

There are reports that the government of Cameroon and separatists leaders have begun holding peace talks in Canada to end the 6 years old conflict

Coordinated by the Canadian government, government is in serious negotiations with representatives of armed groups to bring lasting peace to the war in English speaking regions of Cameroon

Human Rights lawyer Agbor Balla confirms the talks on his official face book page, saying ” I want to appreciate the move by the Republic of Cameroon, the Ambazonia Governing Council and the Ambazonia Defence Force, the African People’s Liberation Movement and the Southern Cameroons Defence Force, the Interim Government, and the Ambazonia Coalition Team for accepting to engage on a peace process.”

The Canadian minister of foreign affairs’ has also issued a statement confirming the talks saying “Canada welcomes the agreement by the parties to enter a process to reach a comprehensive, peaceful and political resolution of the conflict. The parties have also agreed to form technical committees to begin work on confidence-building measures.”

The statement also adds that “Canada has accepted the mandate to facilitate this process, as part of our commitment to promote peace and security and advance support for democracy and human rights. Our role also reflects Canada’s engagement to work with our African partners to build a better future for everyone.

Cameroon government is yet to officially confirm the talks or deny it
